classes

Beginner classes start every January & September.  You can join a beginners class anytime as I regularly repeat the technique of different moves.  You will learn the basic dance moves and travelling steps which are put together in a combination at the end of the class.

The improvers will learn choreographies, different techniques, more advanced moves, how to put combinations together along with more intricate travelling steps.

You will need to wear comfortable clothing such as legging or joggers or a flared skirt and we usually dance barefoot or with dance pumps.  If you have a coined hip scarf bring it along otherwise I have some that you can borrow.

DoDo is also available to teach workshops in technique, saidi stick dance, sword dance, choreography, veil and Isis wings.

THE BENEFITS OF BELLY DANCE

Belly dance is an ancient, traditional dance form that many are familiar with although few understand the beneficial effects it has on the human mind and body… regardless of age, shape or size. The graceful hip drops, rolls, and pivots utilize muscle groups in the abdomen, pelvis, spine, neck, arms and legs working with the body instead of against it.  Based on movements that come naturally to the female form, it helps with toning and strengthening.

Belly dancing improves posture and balance and leads to an improved self image, building confidence and body awareness.  Because it is a gentle weight bearing exercise belly dance also helps prevent osteoporosis and the abdominal movements help aid digestion problems.

This is a fun, healthy way to exercise. It is a creative outlet that conditions, tones, and allows a woman to tune into the natural movements of her body. It can refresh, relax and exhilarate. So why wait?

Classes will be paid for in advance in batches of 4 costing £18, students £14.  If you let me know in advance which classes you can’t attend you will be able to carry these forward.  Please talk to me if this is  a problem for you.
